Full disclosure... I am the author's father and to be honest discovered yet another talent that my son has developed beyond being a successful teacher, coach and athlete.
I found it well written, suspenseful (I couldn't put it down after reading 1/3 of the way through) and leaving me asking, "how long will we have to wait to see how Cathal resolves some open issues?"

This book was recommended to me by a student and I have to say as a college professor I tend to stick to predominately nonfiction genres but this book was very attention grabbing and well written definitely added to my list of good reads.

This is a must read

For fans of A Game of Thrones that want an easier read, Unsung Heroes by Kyle Gurkovich is a mix of fantasy, science fiction and some historical fiction mixed within. The novel starts out with a man named Cathal on an escapade through time to save the world as we know it. With the help of a cousin and some of the Elluna Cathal searches for the five stones to save everything he and everyone else loves. His task is attempted to be thwarted at every moment by the evil gods that separated from the good Elluna long ago. Will his strength to live and save those he love be enough to stop what's coming? Read to find out.

Irene Lewis-McCormick, MS, is a personal trainer, international presenter, author, and 30-year fitness veteran. Highly Recommended

I received this book free from Goodreads giveaways. What I liked most about this book is that the exercises can be incorporated in to any workout. The pictures give a great reference on how to execute the moves correctly. It includes information about anatomy and the muscles you are targeting, working with toys and tools, warm ups and cooling down, and plenty of exercises. My favorite parts were the exercise menus, 20 minute workout examples, and access to an online video library. I am excited to add some new moves to my regular workouts and to try the 20 minute workouts on their own. I would highly recommend to any level from beginner to advanced.

Irene Lewis-McCormick takes you through the science of HIIT,deftly explaining the "whys" and the "hows" of HIIT's effectiveness. The book provides easy-to-follow step by step instruction, with accompanying photos of upper body, core,and lower body exercises. The role of recovery is covered in depth. There are many wonderful examples of workout sets that can be used to achieve lasting fitness results. The exercises are scalable and can be tailored to your fitness, experience and skill level. Although the book is aimed at women, rest assured that men can benefit, too.
I highly recommend this book! Having trained with Irene in the past, I guarantee that this book adheres to the same dynamic and precise instruction style that you would experience if you are ever lucky enough to train with her in person.

Good resource

I was a bit hesitant to put this on my early review request list, the last women's specific exercise book was a complete bomb for me. This one is much much better. The language is clear, there's only a smidgen of implying that women couldn't possibly want to get strong (aargh, toning!), instead focussing on the benefits of this type of workout. For me, the clear explanations of the theories behind HIIT were the most helpful part, and I"m looking forward to trying out the workouts. They have clear descriptions of the workouts, with usefully repeated information in the various sections, as well as good descriptions of the various exercises.

In that field only love exists anyway

Some people talk the talk, some walk it. Having had the opportunity to observe the author's walk during a challenging "spiritual" trip I must say the heart-centered teachings he promotes are not embodied in practice. The contrary was more prevalent, day after day, in the course of more than a long week, the cracks do eventually show, and our group certainly saw them, and suffered them too. The world is full of teachers who promote things they do not practice in their human interactions. Hence the saying "Those who can't, teach". The salvation is that there is value in all teachings, for teachings come in many forms. This being said, reading the akashic records IS for EVERYONE, no matter how open one's heart is in practice in one's daily encounters with others, and anyone can learn to tune-in to the quantum field of knowledge. In that field only love exists anyway, so once we get there, we ARE in the heart-center of knowledge. That is the redemption for all of us. Whether we practice loving-kindness in our day to day or not. And that altered, expanded sense we reach when connecting to the ALL hopefully eventually carries over into our human lives.

I do not recommend this book in particular, but I do recommend that everyone find his or her own way to open to the sacredness of their soul's journey and purpose, for indeed, it is all recorded and available to us. We just need to ask with sincerity and tune in. There are other books on this subject, as well as free online ones. They all do the same thing. Each individual must connect directly by opening himself or herself to the ALL. No book can or will do that for you. Entretenida y graciosa

Imagino que si fuera uno de esos miembros de la comunidad de lectores/frikis que todo lo que tenga que ver con zombies les encanta, ya sean pel�culas de dudosa calidad, videojuegos, series de televisi�n, aplicaciones android o libros para Kindle, esta novela podr�a ser una de sus favoritas.
Para m� todo el tema zombi que no sea "Soy Leyenda" ( la novela claro ) es una basura en general, pero afortunadamente esta novela no es realmente de zombies, es una continua parida de un ingenioso autor que la verdad me ha divertido mucho.
Si quieres pasar un buen rato, descojonarte y olvidarte de las tensiones diarias, esta novela ( en la que aparecen zombis ) te puede divertir. Obviamente no es un cl�sico de la literatura universal y no me cabe duda que el autor no pretend�a que lo fuera, pero tengo que dar la enhorabuena al autor, con el que me gustar�a tomar unas ca�as, porque debe ser un tipo super divertido, y si no es con �l, quiz�s con su amigo con el que se inspir� el Zurbe que debe ser un descojone permanente.
Es una novela sin pretensiones, s�lo la de regalar un rato de humor a quien la lee y me parece una interesante revisi�n a ese tipo de novelas apocal�pticas, que en vez de tener la tensi�n de ver como se salvan los protagonistas de situaciones cada vez m�s complicadas, aqu� los personajes no dejan de ser ellos mismos y se enfrentan a un mundo lleno de devoradores de carne, con escasez de alimentos, sin electricidad ni agua potable, como se enfrentar�an si tuvieran un apag�n en su casa, un corte de agua o tuvieran que ir al super a comprar.
Se la recomiendo si quieren pasar un rato entretenido y la verdad creo que el autor nos regala un momento divertido, un libro que nos hace olvidarnos moment�neamente de la rutina diaria y creo que vale la pena no tomar un caf� en el bar de la esquina y recompensarle comprando su novela para animarle a que siga escribiendo, ya sea la continuaci�n u otra obra diferente, pero con personajes tan cachondos y situaciones tan absurdas e ingeniosas como las que aparecen en el libro que nos ocupa.

"Jente aki" es una obra escrita por Antonio Municio, el cual nos la ha cedido para colaborar con nosotras.

Esta obra narra en clave de humor las aventuras de dos personas muy diferentes entre s� que tienen que convivir y unir sus fuerzas para poder salvar sus vidas.
Un libro que no se puede parar de leer desde la primera p�gina.

Susi s�lo tiene 17 a�os, no trabaja, tampoco estudia y comparte piso con dos chicos, Zurbe y Antu, en un barrio plagado de drogadictos. Quiz�s por su edad o quiz�s por su forma de ser, Susi es muy dependiente: depende econ�micamente de sus padres y emocionalmente de su hermano y de Antu y es la primera vez en la que le toca ser la lider, en la que le toca pensar por s� misma y ser valiente.

Zurbe es un joven veintea�ero muy imaginativo, inmaduro y con aspiraci�n a polic�a pero a�n as� valiente.

Tanto Susi como Zurbe adoran a Antu, lider del piso y quiz�s el h�roe del coraz�n de Susi.

Un d�a en el que Antu no est�, Susi descubre que la calle est� llena de muertos-vivos y que con la ayuda de Zurbe, ya que Antu no aparece, va a tener que ingeni�rselas para poder salvar su vida.

Un libro muy ameno, divertido gracias a la forma de pensar y de actuar de los personajes, con intriga por saber como ir�n solucionando cada problema y por saber como terminar� todo, muy bien narrado, con detalles que hacen zambullirse en la historia completamente...

En definitiva, una obra que merece ser le�da y rele�da disfrutando de las aventuras de supervivencia de estos grandes personajes.

This is an advanced textbook whose *every sentence* is chock full 'o' important information (I gave up trying to highlight "important bits" after about page 6.) I love this book!

I passed this book up for a couple of years because it looked like it was for teenagers and then for awhile longer because I thought it sounded so depressing...

Then a woman I know read an excerpt from it at a bible study I attended. Within a week I had bought a copy and found out that it wasn't only suprisingly uplifting, but that it was simply a feast of faith. No other book outside of scripture has spurred me on in my faith the way this one has.

It really brought Hebrews 12:1 to life for me in a precious way. "Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us."

I strongly encourage anyone who isn't sure about it, to just go for it. I can hardly imagine you regretting it.

LIFE CHANGING

Wow!! This is definitely one of the best books that I have ever read. I recommend it for everyone. It will help Christians strengthen their faith and give non Christians an idea of what Christianity is all about.

The book tells the stories of about 100 different people who were persecuted for their faith in Jesus Christ. It is really challenging to those of us who live in countries where we have the freedom to speak openly about Jesus Christ. It is not uncommon for Christians in other parts of the world to be beaten, tortured, or even killed because they believe in Jesus Christ. This book really challenged me to get outside of my comfort zone and talk to my friends and neighbors about Christ. It was also a great help because I no longer feel alone when I get ridculed or rejected because I am sharing my faith with people.

Good introductory to the wireless world

This book is mostly intended for non-technical people looking for a gentle introduction to the wireless/mobile devices world with a comprehensive survey of the existing technologies.

Confused by acronyms like GSM, CDMA, WCDMA, WAP, WI-FI, Bluetooth? This book will cover all that and much more. The author did a fine job by carefully and systematically explained the key wireless technologies in a high-level manner that appeals to a broader audience. Engineers and developers will be disappointed though by the lack of code samples, mobile development strategies and discussion of current mobile devices specifications

Decent wordy book about basic concepts

I am not sure how to classify this book! Is it a book for a manager? Maybe! Is it a book for a developer new to mobile application development? Not quite! Is it a book for a hardcore technologist (architect, sr developer, product manager, etc)? Definitely not so.

The content of the book is definitely dated (as of 2006). But, I wouldn't blame the author for this. The field of mobile apps is moving very rapidly. There is a lot of confusion, but, a lot of the smoke is also clearing up. Interesting initiatives like OMA are taking center stage in "clearing up the smoke".

The book is way easy to read. But, that's because it has zero technical content. The book touches a lot of interesting technologies, but doesn't provide details on any. It is my belief that the author could have summarized most of the book in maybe 50 pages, or even less!

The book's biggest value is for somebody new to the field. Its a very quick read. There are tons of web links (again dated, but, some very relevant even today) to consortia, forums, companies involved in mobile application development. I was really hoping that the author would put this list online. But, I haven't found anything similar after searching on the author's name in google.

I usually don't read books word-by-word, line-by-line. I try to grasp the big concepts on the first read. This makes me the worst person to find grammatical mistakes in documents/books. But, even I could find grammatical mistakes on the first (and only) read of this book. The editors need to do a better job next time (if there is a next time).

A great place to get started!

I don't really know much about the wireless space, but I do know some J2EE and other distributed technologies. As a novice, I found this book's first few chapters very informative, and it gave me a chance to zone in on a few key chapters based on my anticipated needs. It covers various mobile solution architechtures and constituents using many examples. When I did have questions, or if I wanted to look at some in-depth samples, I just followed the web links at the end of a particular chapter, and that usually answered them, or at least pointed me in the right direction for more info.
I think the biggest thing I took away from this book is that, while the mobile and wireless space is always changing, designing and developing mobile applications relies on a few fundamental concepts (e.g., mobile solution architecture does vary from enterprise solution architecture). This book focuses on these key design and development concepts. So for people looking for a complete overview of the industry, this book will provide everything you need. If you are looking for complete code examples that you can use to start building applications, you might want to look at books that are dedicated to the topic of interest. Since this book covers so many topics, it does not provide sample code for each type of application. This would have been nice, but it also would have made the book twice as long and not as focused on application design.
Overall, I liked Mallick's writing style (not too dry, not too fluffy), and I did learn a TON of stuff from this book. I'll definitely be wearing out the book's spine while I'm learning the moblie and wireless space's ropes.

Daily dozen

The author of this book is one of my heroes from my youth. Bob Hoffman and the York Barbell Company were the main reason I began lifting back in the '60's before athletes were allowed to lift weights. While the book has no new truths, I have enjoyed the view of Mr. Hoffman takes in his belief of exercise. Anyone interested in fitness, health, and vitality would benefit from making the "Daily Dozen" a daily habit.

Good Conditioning Program

Although written in 1958, the information is surprisingly current, probably because it relies on very basic principles. The recommended "daily dozen" is half bodyweight exercises, followed by six basic barbell movements. The author recommends performing the barbell exercises as what he labels compound movements of three exercises each. The barbell exercises are basic enough to be readily adaptable to the use of dumbells or kettlebells. I have followed Hoffman's program for almost a month, and found it to be very beneficial for overall conditioning, which is its stated purpose.

Good simple old-school workout, but no illustrations

Mr. Hoffman summarizes in plain language a practical workout, including stretches and barbell weights, that can be done fairly quickly each day. Much of his commentary about society being unhealthy as a result of modern conveniences, holds true today even more than it did when he wrote this (in the 1950's?).

My only complaint is that the Kindle book does not include the illustrations that the author refers to. However, he is very descriptive in explaining how to perform the exercises, so I'm only deducting 1 star as a result.

Excellent story, in need of a copy editor

An excellent alternative history story that describes the effect of a British capitulation in June 1940, after the fall of the France. The book takes place in 1947 with the U.S. and the Soviet Union still fighting against Nazi Germany in a war that neither side can win. The story follows the American air force as it unleashes its new nuclear arsenal against the Third Reich. It is an interesting story, one that fully highlights the horrors of nuclear war. The author does not shy away from the descriptions of the bombings.

The only major criticism is that the work looks as if it were never edited. Even a cursory examination reveals numerous minor grammatical mistakes - missing punctuation, capitalizations in the wrong place, etc. Normally I would ignore such things, but the repeated errors became rather annoying by the time I reached the end. The plot would have rated a 4.5 had it not been for those errors.

A Different Scenario

I greatly enjoyed this book. I've read many alternative histories of WWII and they all envolve changes in events after the US Entry.

Have the Conterfactual event happen at the begginning of the conflict,ie the Halifax Coup of the Churchill government leads to the unlikely outcome of the British being on the opposite from US. This is almost too much of a stretch.

The US performing a massive nuclear bombing of Germany was also unlikely because I can't imagine any US President (Dewey) restraining himself during the time it took to build the bombs.

There were several editing errors in the book and a few technical ones, Implosion bombs use Plutonium not uranium but these didn't lessen my enjoyment.

All in All I think this was a good book, very enjoyable

A good premise in need of a second edition

The alternate history genre tends to fall into easily-defined camps: "If The CSA Had Won", "If Rome Never Fell", "If The Cubs Finally Win A World Series After 1908", and "If The Nazis Win WWII". The last is a favorite owing to how easy the lure of Nazi super-science can appear (jets, rockets, infra-red sights, guided bombs, etc.), but this novel takes that idea and not only stands it on its head, but then smashes it to the ground.

The author has done his research on the subject, and it shows in the depiction of the aviation technology; he knows the effects of the weapons involved (conventional and nuclear), and that shows as well. My major quibble with this book was the editing; I would hope that a second edition would be issued with the grammatical errors corrected.
