About the Author
Darren R. Rousar studied privately with Richard Lack and attended Atelier LeSueur, both in Minnesota, as well as Studio Cecil-Graves in Florence, Italy. He was the assistant director and an instructor at Charles Cecil Studios in Florence, after which he became vice president of The Minnesota River School of Fine Art in Burnsville. He has been a professional artist for more than 20 years, focusing mainly on Christian themes.
Darren is the author of numerous books, related to Sight-Size, and is the producer of one of the book's companion DVDs.
In 2016, Darren released his fifth book, An Accurate Eye: Learn to Draw Better by Learning to See Better.

Handy Book

As a previous reviewer found out (title of the book notwithstanding), this book teaches how to paint using casts as subjects - using the sight-size approach. It is not full of pictures to copy. If you don't have access to physical casts you might not get very far. One way around it is to learn how to make your own plaster casts using your own or someone elses body parts. Another is to find objects that that include varying shapes and would make good still-life subjects, and spray paint them with a matte white paint.
Beyond this, it's a very useful book, as are Darren's other offerings.

Not what I thought

I haven't been able to find many casts to use for a class. I thought this book offered life-size pictures of casts. It does not.
